Custom Mantels – Wood Fireplace Mantel Surround This dramatic looking white Fireplace Mantel was custom built to cover over and wrap around the old protruding brick fireplace and chimney. The column design has fewer flutes to tone down and balance out the other more ornate features. The exposed brick was painted black. Drywall was added above the wood mantel and up to the ceiling to cover the rest of the brick. The discolored porous concrete hearth was primed and painted to look fresh and clean, be easier to wipe off and yet still look like concrete.
